Mark was hired by ATA in 1995 to manage its new study abroad division, CET Academic Programs. Working with Kate Simpson and a growing team, and applying his own experience in China, he oversaw the division’s expansion from a small provider of two Chinese language programs to today’s much larger organization. Mark is a founding board member of the Fund for Education Abroad, and he remains an active leader as Trustee Emeritus. He frequently speaks at national conferences on topics related to international education, study abroad access, and ATA’s reduced hour workweek. As a student, Mark focused on Asian Studies, Chinese language, and photography, and he has degrees from Bowdoin (BA), Harvard (MA), and the University of Maryland (MBA).
