This quarter’s newsletter has a slightly different flavor. While preparing to send hundreds of travelers across Spain and the Mediterranean for August’s total solar eclipse, we have also been launching new 2027 tours and shaping strategy for 2028. In short: we’ve been busy. Read on for a look at the latest inventive programs we’re building with our partners.
Chautauqua Travels: Journeys Inspired by Curiosity, Culture, and Connection
Chautauqua Institution’s summer session is in full swing, and Samantha Barrie, ATA’s Senior Manager, Accounts and Partnerships, was recently on site to help introduce the 2027 travel lineup. True to Chautauqua’s pillars of arts, education, religion, and recreation, these journeys are designed to spark big ideas, deepen curiosity, and build connection. Cannes Film Festival, London Theater, and Santa Fe’s Art Scene celebrate the power of artistic expression. Clean Energy in Iceland and Singapore’s Sustainability explore urgent global challenges. South Africa: Culture, Creation, and Reconciliation examines history, civic identity, and moral reflection.
Chautauqua is also collaborating with the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation on a special American Semiquincentennial experience in Williamsburg next year. Led by leading historians, archaeologists, curators, and museum leaders, guests will examine how the ideals expressed in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution—life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness—were debated, contested, and lived in 18th-century America.
Cork+Compass Expands Its Portfolio
Wine Enthusiast’s signature blend of insider access and expert leadership continues to strike a chord with travelers. Strong demand has led to the return of favorite journeys to Tuscany and Burgundy in 2026 and 2027, while we premiere Bordeaux this fall and add two exciting destinations in 2027: Sicily and Piedmont.
Guests consistently cite the extraordinary access as a highlight. A Burgundy guest noted that the experience was “well worth the investment due to the access to wineries and experiences that would be impossible on your own.”

Eyes on the Sky: Eclipse-Focused Travel Builds Momentum
For the past four years, ATA has nurtured a dynamic portfolio of astronomy-focused journeys tailored to each partner’s audience and mission. This year’s eclipse programs in Spain, Iceland, and the Mediterranean show the many ways a rare celestial event can become a rich, expertly led travel experience. Looking ahead, 2027 departures in Egypt, featuring a Nile cruise, and Andalusia, Spain, are already drawing strong interest—proof that the appeal of eclipse travel is only building.
We are also developing new eclipse experiences in Australia and New Zealand for 2028, building on traveler enthusiasm for astronomy-themed journeys and creating fresh opportunities for unforgettable educational travel. If your organization is interested in an eclipse-focused program, we’d welcome the chance to explore what’s possible together.
